My parents generously gifted us an overnight stay at East Wind Inn and Spa to celebrate my 59th birthday. I had fond memories of the place — it used to be a luxurious, relaxing escape. Unfortunately, it’s clear those days are long gone. From the start, things felt off. I called the morning of check-in to request an early arrival since I had a 2 p.m. massage. I was curtly told that early check-ins aren’t guaranteed — something I understand, having worked in hospitality myself. Still, I politely explained that guest requests are usually noted on the arrivals list. After some back-and-forth, the woman agreed to “put my name on the housekeeping list.” Thankfully, she later called to say the room was ready before my appointment. We were assigned room 215, a king jacuzzi room. It felt cold, empty, and echoed due to the lack of a rug. The bathroom looked dated and in need of renovation. Also, the room shares a main entry door with another unit, which added to the feeling of being in a dormitory, not a high-end inn. At the spa, the atmosphere was equally underwhelming. I was greeted by a young woman, while several other employees stood around chatting with a staff member — who wasn’t even working that day but had brought her daughters to visit. Not exactly a tranquil or professional vibe. I waited in the quiet room, and my massage therapist, JJ, arrived late. He was kind, but his touch was much too heavy for my frame, and the massage was far from relaxing. Afterward, I attempted to shower. One rainforest shower was out of order, the other wouldn’t turn on, and the shampoo dispenser was broken and just sitting there. I moved to the handicap-accessible shower but had to hold the hose myself — so much for a soothing rinse. A staff member admitted the showers are overdue for a facelift. The hairdryer in the locker room? A cheap, nozzle-less Conair. When I paid, I used the $50 spa voucher included in the package, yet still had to pay $120 out of pocket. Way too expensive for the quality of the experience. Later, at the bar, we tried to enjoy our two complimentary drinks. When my husband ordered a Crown Royal, he was told it wasn’t included. Really? We felt nickel-and-dimed at every turn. Dinner at Desmond’s was a better experience — good portions and service, though even with our $50 voucher, we spent another $45 out of pocket. The next morning, I had a 10 a.m. facial. While browsing, I was interested in roll-on perfumes, but two didn’t have testers. When staff asked the manager, she simply said, “No testers.” So… no sale. My facial with Tabitha was pleasant. She was kind and skilled, but her room was next to the hydro spa where a loud jacuzzi tub ran during my entire service. Not relaxing. She also tried to upsell me on additional treatments while I was lying on the table — something I found inappropriate and intrusive. After using another $50 voucher, I still paid $90. Again — overpriced for the quality. I left the spa disappointed, irritated, and

Amazing first stay
Amazing first stay! All staff are wonderful and extremely helpful! Great location…9 minutes from my destination of splish splash and the Carousel shops across the parking lot are a must see! Desmond’s was delish for dinner and have a great happy hour! The Spa was the best I have ever been too…so relaxing and everyone working there was beyond kind! It’s a definite Gem of a hotel! The rooms could use a microwave and fridge, but they say you can request one and I only stayed one night so didn’t really need it.

The Restaurant Staff and Bartender were so friendly and very attentive. The spa was something to be desired by way of facilities. The pool was not in the same area as spa services. There was no hot tub. And you were on your own figuring out the saunas. The aestheicians and masseuses were phenomenal. Everything they did was perfect. Place just needs some changes to the spa area to actually compete with other spas. Hot tub in waiting area is very doable

Great place to chillax
Love this place because of their large soaking tubs and warm, indoor pool. Both are fab for my arthritis. Staff is friendly, in-house restaurant good and there is SO MUCH to do on the North Fork of LI.
